Thoughts to help or interest those discerning vocation to monastic life

“Begin with prayer”

Posted by Sr Eleanor on April 19, 2008

St Benedict instructs us: “First of all, whenver you begin any good work, you must ask of God with the most urgent prayer that it may be brought to completion by him.”

So as I begin to set up this site, I pray

  • that God’s blessing may be upon this work, upon this website, and upon all who visit it;
  • that anything written here will reflect God’s truth and love;
  • that those searching here will find a word to guide them in their path in life;
  • and that some will be inspired to take the next step in responding to a call to monastic life.
    Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

    Dear Sister Eleanor, welcome to the world of blogging, i am glad you found our blog helpful and that you have started your own – which i am enjoying reading. We have found we now get more enquiries about our life and some women are coming to visit us soon, please pray for them. I wish you well in this new venture and pray that it will bring you many vocations. I have mentioned your blog and community to our community and they are really delighted and will keep you and yours in their prayers.
    We do already have a small link with your community – a couple of the professed sisters from here transferred to Stapehill, from there they became some of the founding sisters of Glencairn – one name i was given is sr maurus? – i need to check it out. Also our Mother Prioress was a novice at Stapehill but had to leave because of ill health – the life was very harsh then and she couldn’t manage it, but came here and ‘made it’,
    with best wishes and prayers, sr marie-therese, colwich.
